EEE 144 - Circuit to Board: Fundamentals of Electronics and PCB Prototyping

This intensive program provides a rapid and comprehensive introduction to the entire lifecycle of modern electronic product development.

Participants will quickly build a foundation in circuit theory, transition to practical schematic capture and simulation, and master the full process of PCB design, fabrication, assembly and testing.

Course Objectives

  • Analyze basic electronic circuits using fundamental laws and identify standard components and symbols.
  • Utilize circuit simulation software such as LTspice to design, simulate and validate basic circuit schematics.
  • Apply the key stages of the PCB design workflow, including component placement, trace routing and Design Rules Check (DRC).
  • Understand the industrial processes involved in PCB fabrication including etching, drilling, plating and quality control.
  • Differentiate between manual and SMT soldering and assembly techniques and perform basic board testing and troubleshooting.
  • Complete a basic integrated project demonstrating the full concept-to-prototype development path.
